Confirming Final Semester

The purpose of this article is to explain who needs to request to enroll below full time for their final semester and how.

Who needs to confirm the final semester of enrollment?

  • Students is in the last semester of their degree program, especially those who will enroll in less credit hours than are normally required to be considered full-time

What is the process?

Step One: Login to iVols

Log into your iVols portal following the instructions here. Select the F- Student Services on the left side of the portal.

Step Two: Select the Below Full Time Request e-form

Select the Below Full Time Request E-Form from the list of available E-Forms.

Step Three: Select the Semester and Year of your Final Semester

Clicks on the Drop Down menu under the question “Select semester and year you are requesting to enroll below full time in (This should be your final semester of enrollment). Per 8 CFR 214.2(f)(6)(iii) “The DSO (Designated School Official for Immigration Purposes) may authorize a reduced course load in the student's final term, semester, or session if fewer courses are needed to complete the course of study.”

Step Four: Select your Degree Level

Let us know whether you are a graduate or undergraduate student by selecting the appropriate degree level.

 

Step Four: Enter your Academic or Faculty Advisors Information

Enter your academic or faculty advisors contact information. Your academic advisor will receive an automated e-mail with a link to complete the advisor portion of the form and confirm your reason to enroll below full time.

Step Five: Submit the form & Next Steps

Click “submit” at the bottom of the form to finalize the submission of your request. Once your form is submitted by your academic advisor, ISSS will review and approve the form. You will receive a confirmation e-mail once your form has been approved by ISSS.
