Confirming Dissertation/Thesis Hours

This guide explains how to confirm that you have enter the research phase of your program for immigration. If you are in the research phase of your program, you are only required to enroll in thesis/dissertation hours. We must submit this confirmation to immigration in order to keep your record in status.

How do I request to enroll below full time?

Step One: Login to iVols

Log into your iVols portal following the instructions here. Select the F- Student Services on the left side of the portal.

Step Two: Select the Confirmation of Dissertation/Thesis Hours Form

Select the Confirmation of Dissertation/Thesis Hours E-Form from the list of available E-Forms.

Step Three: Select your Degree Level

Confirm that you are a graduate student. Undergraduate students are not eligible for this.

Step Four: Route the Form to your Academic or Faculty Advisor

You will be asked to provide your academic advisor’s contact information. Your academic advisor will receive an automated e-mail with a link to complete the advisor portion of the form and confirm your reason to enroll below full time.

Step Five: Submit the form & Next Steps

Click “submit” at the bottom of the form to finalize the submission of your request. Once your form is submitted by your academic advisor, ISSS will review and approve the form. You will receive a confirmation e-mail once your form has been approved by ISSS.
